I too have faced such type of password issues many times. And even after giving e-mail address the site does not respond with the password. This is sometimes because there can be a lot of traffic load on the server of the site or may be the traffic on the site for which password is required,which prevents the message to be delivered.

I guess you have just tried it once to give your e-mail, I request you to try for some more times and wait till the mail is delivered to your mail box. This is the only thing you can do.

You can also try secret question to get you login and change your password if the site has an option of security question.
