Avi format was popular online and offline and also it is playable in many devices and players. But the problem is avi file is too big, and it occupies a lot of space on hard drive. My question is, How to shrink avi files to  have more space in the hard drive of my Mac? Can anyone suggest me detailed info how to shrink avi files?

AVI format will use a lot of memory for storage. The best way to tackle this problem is by converting it into some another format.

By converting it into AVI itself will degrade its quality. The best option to shrink the size by maintaining the quality is by converting it into .mkv format.
