I have a shared email account, and sometimes the Inbox shows me that there are unread emails, but when I open it there are no e-mails. I have tried to change the view of the Inbox folder, but that resulted in being a solution for just a short period. What do you advise me to do?

Hi Herbert,

I am not sure what email client you are using however you can follow this step if you are using Outlook:

  1. Go to navigation pane, click + to cascade and then it will display the subfolder.
  2. Click the unread mail folder and this would show the mails that were unread most of the time if you are subscribed with RSS feeds then it will bother you as an unread email as well.

Hi Herbert,

I had this same issue before and I found out that my OST file size is enormous. The recommended OST file size should not actually exceed 2GB and mines way past the recommended size. So I ended up creating another OST file. Follow the steps outlined below to do this. Reminder: Close Outlook before doing the steps.

You have to determine where your OST file is located. You can do this by:

  1. Start > Control Panel > Mail
  2. Click on Email Accounts then look for the “Data Files” tab.
  3. Look for a file name that says “outlook.ost” beside this you will find the path.
  4. Get into the Path. And rename the file to Outlook.old
  5. Launch Outlook.

Hope this helps!
