This can be either because you have entered an incorrect security key or due to the corrupt connection. Follow below steps to rectify the error.

To connect to the wifi network:

  1. In the right bottom, click on the wifi icon.
  2. Now select the network with which you want to connect.
  3. Click on the ‘Connect’ button. It will ask for the ‘Security key,’ enter the password there.
  4. If on clicking ‘Connect’ it does not show Security key option, then right-click on the selected network and select ‘Properties.’
  5. In the properties, re-enter the password in the ‘Network Security Key’ box. Next click ‘OK.’

You can manually add the wireless network; if you do not find the network name on the list:

  1. Open the ‘Control Panel,’ select ‘Network and Sharing Center.’
  2. In the left pane, click on ‘Manage Wireless Networks’
  3. Now click on ‘Add’ and then select ‘Manually create a network profile.’
  4. Now enter the ‘Network name,’ ‘Security type,’ ‘Encryption type,’ ‘Security Key,’ tick the checkbox for ‘Start this connection automatically’ and ‘Connect even if the network is not broadcasting.’ After this, click ‘Next.’
  5. Now check that the name of this Wireless network is in the preferred networks list.

Now the PC will connect successfully to the network.
