Hi Expert!

My question is, if it's possible to set up DNS Server and Active Directory Domain with the same name? And which comes first in installing, DNS or Active Directory? Or can I install the Active Directory and run the DNS setup on the background? Help please.

Setting Up DNS Server and Active Directory Domain

Hello there Cristy brown!

It is often a very good idea to have the DNS and Active Directory name the same as much as possible. It is actually the preferred way to go. However, having the same DNS and Active Directory name can add to confusion unless you are clear about the distinction between the DNS and Active Directory. You can install and configure the DNS before installing the Active Directory. Or you can also allow the Active Directory Installation Wizard (dcpromo) itself to install the DNS on your server background. Good luck to you! I hope I answered your question.
