Is it possible to set up a new Windows 2003 DC on a Windows 2000 AD? I need to know on how to set up a new Windows Server 2003 R2 on a Windows 2003 AD DC. And what was the requisition on setting up an AD to a new server?

Use the procedure below to do that:

  • You will need to log on to the domain controller with an administrative account.
  • And then you will go to the Start menu, and then open Active Directory Users and Computers.
  • You will need to look for the domain name in the navigation panel, right-click it and then choose New Group.
  • Thereafter you will type the name of a group that is a member of the local "mqm" group.
  • And then choose either Global or Universal in the group scope
  • In Group type you will need to choose Security, and then click OK.
  • After that you will look for the domain name, right-click it and then choose Delegate Control, and then click Next.
  • You will need to choose the group that is a member of the local "mqm" group and click Next.
  • And then you will choose Create a custom task to delegate and click Next.
  • You will then check Property-specific, and then you will choose from the list the following options:

    • Read Group Membership
    • Read Group MembershipSAM
  • And then Click OK.
