Hello everyone,

I am in a problem. I have Windows XP Service Pack 2 in my computer. Recently I determined to move to Service Pack 3. So downloaded it on a DVD and ran it on my computer. It extracted well and created a folder named 2cb5b3e7c31bc6e14f9888efbc.

But then it showed that installation had failed. I restarted the computer and saw that the folder is deleted. I ran the setup again from DVD but is again shows that message. What is happening?

Hello Sumankalyan,

Before we try out any other alternative, i would wish to inform you that since your installation files are on a DVD, any scratch, however minor it may be, it can cause some of the files to be corrupt and hence the installation will fail, so please try to use another data source may be a flash disk.

Unfortunately you have not specified which kind of error you receive, but the error may be due to the fact that the installed Microsoft Shared Computer Toolkit is not compatible with windows XP service park 3. To solve it,

Go to control panel and select add or remove programs, click on Microsoft shared computer Toolkit. after go on and install Sp3.
