Hey,

Sure that you have a problem with your ROM Drive or WINDOWS XP Service Pack 2 Disk. Otherwise your C: Partition is not well formatted.

I solved this problem for many times. You may try to solve this problem with the following steps.

  1. Pull out ROM Drives(CD/DVD), Then check your ROM Drives and Clean ROM lenses. Try again to give the setup again.
  2. If the step is not working, try to change the WINDOWS XP Service Pack 2 Disk and Re-try again.
  3. There is other solution if those steps are not working, make sure you have formatted C: partition perfectly. You must have 1.8 GB of free space on your hard disk partition in order to install Service Pack 2. Before the installation of WINDOWS XP Service Pack 2, please check your hard disk space and delete unnecessary files and programs to free additional space, if necessary. If this is not possible as your system is crashed, then you have to format C: partition and run the installation again.

[Note- You do not need to format all of your drives.]
