“Server Not Found” error when accessing

I have a computer that is currently running on Windows 7 Home edition. I have created four user accounts for myself and four other close relatives. Everything else has been running smoothly until recently when I updated a program by the name Download Accelerator Plus. Since then, the two other users who could access the server before have had problems accessing my server. Each time I try to I get the message “Server Not Found”. The other two users also get the same message whenever they try to. I have a strong feeling that something in the DAP is responsible for this situation. Uninstalling and deleting the application together with its updates does not have any effect. I don’t think that there is anything wrong with my computer as all the drivers are up to date and no one has tampered with the settings they are still the same ones recommended by the computer support and the my Internet service provider which is Wild blue satellite. I have done all that I could which includes calling both the ISP and computer support staff and implemented all their suggestions without success. A reverse check on my modem carried out by my ISP did not resolve my situation as they found the modem to be functional from their end. I have run out of options so I am seeking your help in this matter.

Hi Toby

It could be that download accelerator plus changed some of your internet settings after the update that made you unable to connect to the internet. You can try this to change your internet settings to default.

  1. Go to the control panel, find and open Internet settings.
  2. Go to the Advanced tab and click on Reset under Reset Internet Explorer settings.
  3. Select OK.

If that didn't solve the problem then you can try system restore to an earlier point. You can open this by clicking Start and typing system restore in the searchbox there. System restore should be able to resolve this problem if it was caused by DAP.

When this type of error comes up, it usually means you're having a very slow internet connection and when the browser was trying to connect to the server, communication between your computer and the website timeout causing this kind of error. Is your internet connection shared by several devices at a time? Seeing that you have satellite service, you may have a slow connection since i take it the connection is from a satellite connection which is slower compared to the usual DSL connections. If the connection is not shared by multiple devices, try running a malware scan on your machine. It may not be the download accelerator plus, but your computer may have become infected causing the internet bandwidth to be lessened due to malware using up a part of it.
