Hello,

I have upgraded vCenter from 4.0 to 4.1 and have 2 templates in my vCenter installation. I can convert it to Virtual machine and back to template. Now I am getting the following error message after converting to VM. I cannot edit machine anymore nor migrate the template anywhere. Have any idea? Help me to resolve this issue.

Hi Ruth,
The error is because the inventory is not installed.
The solution to this error is as stated below:
1) Shutdown the VM
2) Right Click the VM and select 'Remove from Inventory'

Remove-from-Inventory-from-the-system

3) Go to 'Data store Browser', look up that VM is removed from the system
4) Right click the .vmx file and select 'Add to Inventory'

Add-to-Inventory-in-the-system

5) Follow the wizard to add it to the same place as it was before
