Hi Sudeshnt,

You can still received messages depending on your iPhone settings. If the wifi is "on" you can still access your email, Facebook etc., but if there is no internet connection you can only rely on the SMS which is from Telecommunications provider. Most of the users are now rely on the internet connection "WiFi", they don't rely on SMS.

Right now there were many wifi hot spots available, mobile companies are now combining  mobile phone features and laptop features into 1 gadget thats why blackberry are selling like an hotcake for the past years because of it's unique features compare to other mobilephones, blackberry can save a lot of Monthly Service Fee from telco users because they don't rely on SMS or "Text"," Call", users rely on Blackberry Messages which is cheaper and email.

Thanks,

For sure you can be able to send messages by using an iPhone without having an sim card installed first.

The iMessage service on the iPhone has the ability to register the email address, for instance your Apple ID, and that  generally how it has been made to work on iPad and iPod Touch.

So is a  completely normal process for you to be able to send messages via iMessages with an SIM-free iPhone.

But you will have to make sure that you are first of all connected to a WiFi network to be able to use that service, otherwise you cannot be able to use it.

No, you cannot send SMS messages but you can still send and receive messages if you are using your WiFi connections and you have applications that is capable of sending and receiving messages such as Viber, WhatsApp, eBuddy, etc.

iMessage is also capable of sending and receiving messages but only if the person you will send the message is also using an iOS device such as iPhone and iPad.
