What is Search Engine marketing (SEM)? What areas does it cover? Is it same as Internet marketing? How are they different? I would like to apply for a course to know these topics? Which one do you think is more lucrative career wise? Where should I spend my time and efforts for better prospects?

Search Engine marketing (SEM) is the broad term given to various techniques used to advertise and promote and market the content of a website across various search engines (Google.com, Yahoo.com, Bing.com, etc.). It involves several marketing strategies such as pay-per-click advertising, search engine optimization (SEO), and other forms of Internet advertising. Hence, SEM and Internet marketing are one in the same as they involve delivering content to potential customers.
