Hello,

I am having the following error.

Scanner error

Scan Gear

Cannot communicate with scanner

Cable may be disconnected, or scanner may be turned off.

Check status.

Scanner driver will be closed.

This error appears when I try to scan my documents on my MP600 all in one printer. This error starts appearing after a sudden power failure while scanning. After the power restore, everything is okay for the printing function except scanning.

When I do copy thing in the scanner, it works fine. But when I start scanning from the computer, I got the above mentioned error.

I update the drivers, but the problem still exists.

Do suggest me what to do.

I am using Windows XP on a Pentium 4 processor with 256 MB of ram and 120of hard disk. This system is solely used for scanning purpose ,and all visual effect etc. are disabled on it to improve performance in view of less ram on the system.

Thanks.

This error shows may be of two reasons:

  • The scanner driver is not installed properly.
  • The scanner may not be accepted by the computer.

The scanner driver is not installed properly.

1. Ensure if the scanner is properly designated in the application.

2. If your scanner is not registered in the application, the driver is not installed correctly. Uninstall and reinstall the driver and at that point reconnect the scanner.

Choosing a Scanner (ArcSoft PhotoStudio)

In this example, CanoScan LiDE600F will be selected in Arc Soft PhotoStudio.

1. Just start ArcSoft Photo Studio.

2. Then select [Select Source] from the [File] menu.

The scanner may not be accepted by the computer.

1. Firstly, Disconnect and reconnect the scanner.

  • If your scanner is connected via USB hub, connect the scanner to the processor directly without a hub.
  • If the computer takes multiple USB ports, connect the scanner to the extra port.

2. Restart the computer. Then may be scanner accepted and work.

3. Make sure if the scanner is accepted or not and execute the following procedures.

Perform the following procedures to check if the scanner is recognized. If it is not, reinstall ScanGear.

Attaching the scanner to your computer

Check that the lock switch is unrestricted.
