Saving files while using office 3.3.0 with MAC OS X.6.5

At home, I use Open Office 3.3.0 with my Mac OS X.6.5. At the same time, I also use Microsoft Word 97/2000/XP in school. Now, the files I saved from Windows are under .doc file. Every time I open .doc file, I have to type first a password to edit it. After editing from Open Office, I have to save the file to different formats: .odt, .doc, and .rtf in order to access it from Microsoft Word. This set up is a hassle for me, could you help me make more efficient?

Hi Cheeze,

In order to resolve this issue. Install your home program to Microsoft Word same as in your school. This is the only way you can resolve this issue because Open Office is a volunteer-run project, the meaning of this is to aim building world class office suite to all this is one of the feature on this program is a freeware which you can download to the internet for free without a charge. Open Office only recognizes this programs: .DOC, .PPSX, .DOCX, .DOCM etc. their will be a conflict on translating on this extensions in order to run it on Microsoft Word. So, install Microsoft  97/2000/XP in your home to make it efficient.

Thanks,

Goldie
