PC makers are competing with each other to create a fast boot software to ease the pain of users. Experts says that when boot-up process exceeds more than a few minutes, users get all worked up that they feel like they are waiting for ages.

Manufacturers of operating systems like HP, Dell and Lenovo are bringing out new machines that allow us to access the basic  computer function in less than 30 seconds. HP launched a fast booting laptop that cost $1,200, and now they are looking to offer PCs that boot in 30 to 45 seconds and 18 months from now, they are planning to reduce the boot time to as less as 20 to 30 seconds.

Asus, the world's largest maker of circuit boards for PCs, has gotten very busy in creating fast boot software for their product line. Microsoft also revealed its intention on doing a very good operating system that boots within 15 seconds.

Yes, that’s very true. When your computer boots up for more than a minute, it doesn’t look good. It means that there is something wrong with the system that’s why it consumes time just booting up the machine. If this is what you think is the reason then the best thing to do is to check the computer for possible virus infection. Computer virus not only damages the system but tends to make it slower as time goes by.

If you didn’t pay any attention to it at the beginning, don’t be surprised if one day you can hardly open your computer. You should check your machine for virus using reliable antivirus software like for example Norton Internet Security, Norton AntiVirus, McAfee Antivirus, Panda Cloud Antivirus, and more.

But there are times that the actual software you used is the one causing the slowness of the computer. If your computer loads too many programs during boot up, then this is the reason why it is taking so long to finish starting the system. You can remove some of the programs in the startup that you don’t actually use to improve the booting up process of the computer. The following steps will guide you.

  • Click Start then Run.
  • Type “msconfig” without double quotes then hit Enter. This will open the System Configuration Utility dialog box.
  • Click the Startup tab. From there, uncheck the programs that you think is not important or you are not using then click Apply or OK then restart your computer.

You will notice an improvement in booting up your computer. You should also check if it is not your antivirus that makes the system boot slow.
