Hi everyone,

My operating system is Windows XP service pack 3. My computer was reformatted due to some errors. When the Mail Protection Service stops responding, all of my running programs at the moment also stop.

How can I solve this problem without reformatting my computer again? (the screenshot is shown below)

It seems that there is really something wrong with your operating system with that error popping up. Your Windows’ Mail Protection Service will not stop working if your system has no other problem.

You may also try restarting your computer using the Last Known Good Configuration option of Windows. Restart Windows normally then right before the Windows logo appears on your screen, press F8 continuously until your screen displays the Windows Advanced Options Menu.

When you reach this part, navigate through the options using your keyboard’s arrow keys then select Last Known Good Configuration (your most recent settings that worked) then hit Enter. Wait until Windows has finished loading then see if this fixes the problem.

You may also try checking your computer for any possible errors. Use a disk utility application to check the system.
