I have been attempting to burn DVDs using Creator 2009 and encountered this error. I tried four times and it only helped me to waste blank DVDs each time. I am using windows vista on my machine. I can successfully burn DVDs on this machine using Nero. I tried using Sony, Imation and Verbatim disks to burn the DVDS. But I did not succeed with any of these. I am trying to create disks at 4x speed. I had no issues when installing this software. What could be wrong with Roxio Creator? Can anyone please give me few tips on how to go about fixing this issue? Thanks.
There was a problem writing in the disc. You can try again by clicking the
Retry button. You will need another blank disk ready.
Roxio Creator 2009 failure to create DVDs
If you have been using Nero for quite some time and you are happy with it since it burns DVDs successfully then just stick with it. Problems like this are often caused by the application itself which is maybe not compatible with your system, doesn’t work very well with your DVD writer, or some other problems.
Since you are using the Roxio Creator 2009, it only supports Windows XP Service Pack 2 and later x86 or x64 and Windows Vista Home Basic. And because you are on Microsoft Windows Vista, make sure you are using the Home Basic edition because it will not work on other editions of Microsoft Windows Vista.
If you are using other edition of Microsoft Windows Vista and not the Home Basic edition, I don’t think you will be able to use Roxio Creator 2009. If you can’t shift to the Home Basic edition, you better upgrade to Roxio Creator NXT 2. This version will surely work on your computer.
Roxio Creator NXT 2 supports Windows XP Service Pack 3 x86 only, Windows Vista Service Pack 2 x86 or x64, Windows 7 [Home Premium, Professional, or Ultimate] Service Pack 1 x86 or x64, and Windows 8 Professional or not x86 or x64. Since you already own an edition of Roxio Creator, you can upgrade to Roxio Creator NXT 2 for $69.99 where non-Roxio users can purchase it for $99.99.
