I am torn between getting a router or a network switch and I'm hoping someone could help me decide. I just want our multiple devices at home be able to connect to the internet and share files from one device to another. I need something that needs less configurations, hopefully, something that can work right out of the box.

Hello Abrianna,

Routers and switches have one basic difference. switches will group computers within a network to form a LAN, but routers connects different network. Generally you should use a router in your home network cause it comes with a built-in switch and generally has 4 ports in it. If you want to connect more you can buy a switch and connect it to router. Simple!!

As well Routers has better features, more configurable  and more security. You should go with Router indeed..!!
