Hi,

I have the Revit software that I use to assist me in my architecture and modeling career. I love this software for its use of use because I understand its capabilities well. However recently, when I try to open an existing design is displays an error as shown below. Please assist in solving this error because I even did a reinstallation and didn’t work.

Seeing the screenshot you attached, I think the program is missing a file located in that particular location. That location indicated in the dialog box is possibly located in the Windows registry or one of the folders stored in drive C. Since the missing file is not clearly indicated in the dialog box, your best option is to reinstall the program.

Uninstall the program and then install it again then see what happens. If this doesn’t fix the problem, open Windows Explorer then go to the installation folder of Revit usually in “C:Program Files”. Search the folder for any LOG files that may contain the information of the error. An example of a log file you need to find is shown below. See image.

Open the log file with notepad and then check the possible location of the file. Go to the location of that file to verify if the file is really missing. If you can’t see a particular folder, enable “Show hidden files and folders” in the Folder Options to view hidden folders in the drive.

If the file is indeed missing, run the installer again to restore the file. But on the other hand, if the file is not missing, then it is maybe corrupted. Uninstall Revit using the Add or Remove Programs in the Control Panel and then restart your computer. Open Windows Explorer then go to “C:Program Files”.

Delete Revit’s folder if uninstalling it didn’t remove the directory. After that run the installer to install it again then see if this fixes the problem.
