I have recently clean installed OS X Mavericks. I had some files on the desktop. Now how can I restore my files? If the files have shifted to some other folder, where will I find it?.

The error is because the new user cannot access the desktop files before the installation.
To resolve this error follow the steps mentioned below:
1) Create a dummy user and navigate to the users folder
2) Search for a shared folder, in the shared folder navigate for the old user files
3) Go to 'System Preferences' > 'Users'
4) Check that the user being used is not the grayed out list of users
5) Create a new user and identical to the user name folder you are trying to restore
6) Click 'Yes' when the message 'A folder with that user already exists'
7) Navigate to 'System Preferences' > 'Sharing' settings
8) Select the folder which you want to restore from the system
9) Restore them back to the desktop and restart the system
