Restore ARCserve 12.5 in Windows 2008

We are trying to restore ARCserve 12.5 with Windows 2008 to a different hardware.  The restoration finished successfully, but after a reboot, the server machine fails to boot from Windows. A pop up message with error,  “Windows failed to start. A recent hardware or software maybe the cause…” It also fails to load tcpip.sys and running on Safe Mode won’t work either. Maybe the reason for this is the hardware on the test server. So we tried changing the settings for tctip.sys from installed DVD, but the result is all the same. We need help on reverting the server to work on normal operation. Help please.

Use the following steps to solve that problem:

I would suggest you to boot the computer into Safe Mode and check if you can boot, here are the steps:

  1. First you will need to restart the computer in case you have it already powered on.
  2. And then you will need to tap the F8 key after your computer initially powers on.
  3. You can stop tapping after you see the Advanced Boot Options menu.
  4. And then you will use the up/down arrow keys to highlight your selection.
  5. And thereafter you will select Safe Mode and then press Enter.
  6. You should be able to see the drivers loading, and then you have to wait.
  7. Next, you should see Welcome Screen.
  8. You will need to log on to the computer as the Administrator.

Once the computer has boot Safe Mode, you should try restoring the system to a previous time before the error started occurring and check if it helps.
