Depending upon which version of Windows 7 you installed that is what may be causing the problem.

If you installed a 32 bit version the recommended amount of RAM recommended from Windows is at least 1GB RAM . If you installed the 64-bit version you would need at least 2GB of RAM.

Also remember that you need a processor of at least 1 GHz. Windows also recommends that you have at least 16 GB of hard disk space for the 32-bit and at least 20GB for the 64-bit.

Lastly to ensure that you make best use of what Windows 7 has to offer you should have a DirectX 9 graphics card with a WDDM 1.0 or higher.

There are other features that may require more. To see what other specifications you may require based on your need don’t hesitate to check their site for more information.

Random Access Memory (RAM) is fundamental for computer performance. Without RAM you are unable to run the operating system and the computer. The RAM reads and writes data for the processor.

If the computer processor uses less time the Hard Drive, you get the speed system. For data purposes, speeding up your computer, you need more RAM which decrease the processor dependence on Hard Drive.

The RAM performs faster than your hard drive, so when there’s more RAM for your computer to use, your programs respond faster to your commands.

Windows 7, the Microsoft operating system, has minimum RAM requirements set by the Microsoft. If you want to run Windows 7 on your computer, the minimum requirements for RAM are:-
For 32-bit version: – 1 gigahertz (GHz)
For 64-bit version:- 2 gigahertz (GHz)

However, the minimum requirements don’t take what else you might be running on your computer at the same as Windows 7 into account so you need more RAM.

You might run into problems with the configuration if your computer can’t identify the amount of memory installed on your computer.

In addition, the 32-bit version of Windows 7 doesn’t identify more than 4GBs of installed RAM, so even if your computer can handle more RAM, upgrading more than 4GBs might not give any benefits.

It actually requires 1 gigabyte RAM (32-bit) or 2 gigabyte RAM (64-bit). And aside from the RAM, you should also ensure that the processor is 1 gigahertz or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64).

Check also that you have 16GB hard disk space available (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit). See to it that you have DirectX9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or a higher driver.

So, it's not just the RAM that you should take consideration with. All the requirements should be met first in order for you to avoid to encounter any problems running Windows 7 on your computer.

Some games and applications or programs may require higher graphics card. Windows 7 also works with the multi-core processors today.
