When ever opens my PowerPoint file it opens in slideshow mode. want to get rid of it. when i press ESC files closed rather than removing slide show option. How to edit?

Slide show mode is also a power point feature. But it possesses different extension. Slideshow powerpoint file extension is .pps. This can remove even by without opening the file.

You just need to change the extension. You want your file in edit able or normal mode. Go and rename the file as filename.ppt for Microsoft powerpoint 2003 and .pptx for Microsoft powerpoint2007.Â

If extensions are not visible in your system, you need to change setting. Open the windows explorer, go to organize tab then click on folder and search option. A window appears, go to second tab names as ‘view’. Scroll down and find the check box ‘hide extension for known file names’. If this checkbox is tick marked then UN-tick it.
It seems your file has the .pps extension, which means it is a slide show and not an ordinary presentation. When you press Esc, the show ends.
To change this behavior, you must change the extension of the file. Make it .ppt or .pptx, depending on what version of MS PowerPoint you have, 2003 or 2007 and 2010, respectively. When you launch the file, it will open in PowerPoint and will be ready to be edited. To start it as a slide show, you may press F5.
