Hi Everyone,

I am trying to stop this Microsoft product id decoder window pop up in my Windows 7 pc. Where and what item in the registry can I delete to stop the window from popping up during start up? Your help and assistance will be greatly appreciated.

Thanks,

If this is a startup issues, first you need to check is if this software is added in the C:Users<yourusername>AppDataRoamingMicrosoftWindowsStart MenuProgramsStartup or just click Start>All Programs>Startup for a shortcut.

Make sure that it is not listed in this folder, delete it otherwise so it would not start on Windows startup

  • To check the registry, run regedit by hitting win+R in your keyboard or go to Start>Run and type regedit
  • Expand from registry editor HKEY_CURRENT_USER>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Run
  • Backup if you prefer to be safe before deleting any entry by highlighting the entry you want to delete then click File>Export to export the registry entry to a *.reg file which you can upload back if necessary.
  • Delete the entry for your preferred software to disable auto run, check also RunOnce if it is listed there also.
  • Expand and search the HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>Software>Microsoft>Windows>CurrentVersion>Run
  • Delete that specific registry data here also if needed.
