Recovering data from Windows Crash

I really want to get access to my disk at least for once and recover my important data but I am unable to do that. Actually the windows on my old Sony PCG FX140 laptop got corrupted and now it’s not loading.  When I start the Windows Me, after the logo there comes a blue screen showing me the error saying; error message 'scandisk has caused an error in msvcrt.dll scandisk will now close If you continue to experience problems, try restarting your computer''. When you close that, it says "rundll32 has caused a problem in msvcrt.dll", then ssdpsrv, then spool 32, then stimon, then statemgr, the scrolling marquee, then it starts with scandisk again.

I tried my best level to recover the data but I was failed in doing so. The main problem is Windows are not loading.  I got to know from an online helping source that scandisk needs to be reloaded and a hardware technician told me that hard drive has a bad cluster and it needs to be replaced. At the same time I don’t want to invest that much in that computer because of its being very old. Please help me out in matter and let me know the ways if there are any to get access to my disk at least for once. I would be very grateful.

Thanks

Recovering data from Windows Crash

Hi Helen, Your concern is you want to retrieve your files from your Computer. The best thing to retrieve your Files is to buy Hard Disk Enclosure for Laptop.

It is much more like this.

I'm using this for quite some time now when I fix my Customer's Laptop. You can use this by unscrewing your Hard Disk from your Laptop and attach your Laptop Hard Disk to the Enclosure then connect it to other Laptop using the USB Port and you can access your Files using that device. Be sure that you use the Safely Remove Option to prevent from corrupting your hard disk and also to the device.

Thanks

Are you able to login as safe mode. If you are able to login as safe mode then you are able to recover your data. If you are able to run in safe mode you can set to a previous point in your window. Also you can see your files and you will be able to move then in another drive. If you are not able to login to safe mode then form the save menu you need to select the system recovery option and then you can recover your window because only file you want to recover can be recovered form that option.

If both are options are not working then you can run your computer in Command prompt mode form any boot able cd of command prompt and then you can move your files one by one. This is a little tricky because it needs to understand the language of command prompt to do that and you can only do that if you know some thing about it. The most important thing is to how you can copy one file form one disk to another, In this way you will be able to copy all the files form one disk to other disk that are still available on your disk. You will be able to see your files in other drives then you can easily install new window.
