Hello.

You can recover product keys for windows 98 and 95.

But recovering product key for windows xp through command prompt is not possible due to several security issues.

By using product keys you can only locate product ID number but not actual product key.

To know more about this process, click on the link below.

Thank you.

Hi Jaycelin,

Recovering registration key with the help of command prompt is not possible in the case of Windows XP. Infact, windows does not support any such feature.

To restore your registration key, you can contact Microsoft customer care, which can help you.

Contact Microsoft customer care here: https://support.microsoft.com/en-us

Hope this helps!

There is actually no solution to this since your main objective is to recover your expired license key for Windows XP Professional. And even if you can recover your expired license key, you still won’t be able to use it on your operating system since it is already expired. I’m also confused about the license key you are asking.

The license key or registration key that needs to be entered in Microsoft Windows XP Professional is not free. It needs to be purchased from Microsoft itself. And a purchased license key for Windows XP Professional doesn’t expire. I haven’t heard of anyone having their registration key getting expired. I think you are referring to the trial days of a freshly installed Microsoft Windows XP Professional and not the actual license key.

I forgot the number of days allotted to the operating system before it expires and this only applies to a fresh installation. During this period you can use it without the need of entering the license key. But when the trial period expires, this is when you need to enter the license key and this is purchased from Microsoft.

After entering the license key, the operating system will be activated online. This process will also verify the license key you provided if it is valid or if there is another computer using it. A license key is sometimes valid for two or three computers depending on the type you purchased. You can also enter the license key during the trial days.
