Receiving OOO messages Lotus Notes

I sent a message to a specific user last Nov 11 and I got two OOO replies from him. A lot of users have been reporting me with this issue. They as well got OOO messages from users whom they did not contact for a long time. Is this a common issue? The server used for messaging is 8.5 and the mail file is inotes6.ntf.

Any help will be appreciated. Thanks!

The OOO messages are called the Out of Office messages, and what they do is that they will automatically determine the home mail server of the user, and after they have done that they will enable Out of Office agent to run on that server.

In its default state, the out of office agent will run for  every six hours, and that is between 4 AM and 12 AM, and that means that it will not run between 12 AM and 4 AM, that being because many other maintenance tasks are executed during this time. You can be able to change the frequency of how often the agent should be able to run.

In case you do not want to receive the OOO messages you can disable the agent, and I will refer you to the following article to guide you on how you will do that: https://www.ibm.com/developerworks/lotus/library/ooo-pt1/
