Random process freezing on an Asus Laptop

How can i fix the random freezing of processes on a Asus K52J?All the active applications freeze for 2 – 4 minutes. I've tried both Windows 7 Ultimate x64 and x86 and the laptop and reduced the bus speed of the HDD(by adding the pin) to fix the compatibility issue with the motherboard. I have checked the graphics card as well and it seems to be in working order. Of course, virus or any kind of malware is out of the question because i have fully formatted the HDD twice and did a before and after scan with Kaspersky Internet Security 2011 (v11.0.0.232) with no results.

Specifications: Notebook Asus K52JE-EX194D, Intel® CoreTM i3-380M 2.53, 3GB, 500GB SATA at 5400 rpm, ATI Radeon HD 5470 512MB

Random Process Freezing

I have two questions in this issue. First is it Random Process that cause the freezing of your computer or is that Process is Freezing randomize? By the way, since this was not clear to me. I will give you two options and reasons for that cause of freezing.

If you have seen random process in your computer which is not familiar to you, the process might be caused of viral infection. If you have an infection before the anti-virus was installed, there is a possibility that the virus might be immune from the anti-virus or the virus removal tool because some virus embeds the anti-virus process to block the anti-virus from cleaning the body of the virus on the system.

If you are use a pirated operating system installation disk, the disk might have infections with a virus.

Secondly is if freezing occurs randomly with the same normal process, there might be a possibilities that your RAM or memory has damage. Try to replace your memory modules with a new one. A new memory modules may costs more or less 25 dollars each. But before doing this, try to clean the pins of your memory modules because sometimes pins gets dirty which cause loose connect to the connector or the memory slot. If this step doesn’t solve the problem, the ultimate solution is to purchase a new memory module and change it with a new one.

If your computer is under warranty you might bring your computer to the store where you bought it and ask for warranty.

If I’m not mistaken, the sudden freezing happens when Windows is booting. One of the reasons why this happens is the number of startup applications you have. If your computer has many applications that run with Windows, you may experience sudden freezing when Windows is booting because the system executes all the applications in the startup one after the other.

That’s why the computer boots very slowly because of the number of startup applications. To improve the boot up time of the computer, remove applications from startup that is not important or you don’t need. When there are only few applications in the startup, your system will boot up fast. To help you with the startup applications, download the free version of CCleaner and install it.

Once installed, start CCleaner then go to “Tools” on the left pane and select “Startup” on the right. Now, do an experiment. Select an application on the list that is less important or you don’t use then click “Disable”. Restart your computer then see if it works. If this doesn’t work, continue disabling applications until you located which application causes the freezing.

Once you located the application, disable it permanently or uninstall it from your computer. Re-enable the rest of the applications you disabled. If you want to convert CCleaner to Pro, download the codes and follow the instructions.
