As far as I know you have a sufficient memory but you are running in a fast CPU. Well, it’s not in the top of the line but Samsung DVD writer is a good quality peripheral and most the users regards it positively. Two areas that you might want to explore is by checking for a new XP drivers and DMA support. Even though these drive is compatible with XP, but some suggestions that XP support is just adequate, try checking out some update drivers. With the Direct Memory Access right click on the My Computer then Properties, then device manager and select the DVD-ROM and click the properties. One of these tabs you will find the DMA option and try to check if it correctly set.
