The Qualcomm is known to be the giant in Snapdragon processors and cellular chips for Nexus and iPhone mobile industry. I heard that they are planning to launch their own Server Processors, is it really true? Are they trying to engage their mobile consumers to use their heavy duty CPUs?

Is Qualcomm planning to launch its own Server Processors?

Hi Gene,

Yes, Qualcomm has decided to launch their own line of server processors. They have announced this in between 3rd and 4th week of November 2014. It is assuming that the CPU’s from Qualcomm would be ARM based only, same like they have done in mobile sector. Though the organization still not confirmed dates about releasing their heavy duty CPU’s.

Before launching those CPU’s in market the company has already started engaging its mobile customers, insisting them to use their new CPU’s as well as learning them about their upcoming CPU’s, which will give a hard challenge and competition to INTEL CPU’s who have a only one bad reputation in market, that is high power consumption by CPU. Qualcomm wants to strike this weakness of INTEL processor by bringing ARM based CPU’s which will consume less power but will be robust in nature as per Qualcomm.
