Hello,

I have 2 ways of taking pictures i.e through view finder and through live view. The one taken through view finder, will have a rectangle across the LCD screen at the top. The one taken through live view is okay. Could this be about settings? What is the problem?

Hi Nellie,

The rectangle you see on the LCD of your camera is the ‘Focusing Frame’. This will help you to focus on your targeted object through view finder. Perhaps you should try to switch your focus mode (I assume you’ve selected Auto Focus Mode) into Manual Focus. I hope this tip will help you.

I have a d3100 and sometimes if I am not sitting properly or I have any mirror in the picture it makes that strangle that you are talking about. Try to upload the pictures and see if there are any of these mistakes. If the problem is not solved find a Nikon service center. Another option is to check if you have a manual focus or an auto focus and change it.
