I’m just new on this networking set-up. I hope i could get some idea here. I’m planning to set up small network at home. I have two PC, that i want to network. I want them in a 1 workgroup. I configure it in properties -> sharing. How come I could access them in the other computer? Even disabling firewall on 2 computers. I don’t have any idea what happening here.

If you have already set up the connection, I mean you have laid the cables connecting the computers together, and then setting up the work group is easy. Just use the following procedure to change the work group so that it is same for both computers:

If you have a Wi-Fi router at home, the best and easiest way to network two computers is to connect them on your Wi-Fi either by cable or wireless. Once both machines are connected to the router, you need to configure them to use one “workgroup” so they can see each other in the network. To set the workgroup, on one computer, right-click “My Computer” and select “Properties”.
On the next screen, select “Computer Name” tab. Here, you should see two buttons: “Network ID” and “Change”. Click “Change”. In “Computer Name Changes” window, under “Member of”, select “Workgroup” then enter the name of your workgroup in the text field and then click “OK”. You can use any name for your workgroup. You can even use your family name.
And that’s it. Go to the next computer and do this again. Just make sure both computers have the same workgroup name.
