Problem using dvd sharing for Mac to watch movies of MacBook

I just recently got a MacBook Pro and never having owned one before in my life. I put a DVD and installing DVD sharing for Mac to watch movies thinking it would play and it didn't. A DVD icon showed up on my desktop so I clicked on it and all there was were folders, etc.

I didn't know what to do, is there any effective solution regarding on this problem?

I worked on your problem and find that DVD sharing may be not a DVD player. this software is just to share the Video files.
