Why am I unable to update Kaspersky 2010? I installed it and when updating am being asked for a proxy user name and password.

How do I get past this?

You can try the solution I have here and see if it can resolve your issue. Ensure that you have the activation key. And then launch the Kaspersky Internet Security. Right-click on the Kaspersky icon and click exit. After removing KIS, restart your computer and run the Removal tool on Safe Mode. Just download the file and extract it to the same folder where KIS is installed.

Reboot your computer and download a new KIS installer. Install it and then reboot once again. This will help you on updating KIS.

Hi,

The problem you have raised is due to the program is unable to access the required files which are on the update source or unable to make copy the files in the target folder. Normally, this files you can find in the Documents and settingsAll UsersApplication DataKaspersky LabAVP8Bases (under Microsoft Windows XP) or in ProgramDataKaspersky LabAVP8Bases (under Microsoft Vista).

If the above method does not work, then move to the following method. You can uninstall the program and again install it and then try to update the program. The problem was due to system utility. Hope this helps.
