Hello experts.

Our network is Lotus domino version 8. Our users make a connection to it using Lotus notes client.

For the need of some users who wished to use Outlook, recently we enabled POP3 access. Everything looks like fine except for sending emails to external domains.

You find attached a document below for error message.

I have made all the authentication settings available for Outlook but now I am thinking if there is still something to be enabled in Domino server.

OutIook Send/Receive Progress

0 of 1 Tasks have completed successfully

Dont show this dialog box during Send/Receive

Task ‘PIC – Sending’ reported error (0x800CCC80) : ‘None of the authentication methods supported by this client are supported by your  server.'

So please help me.

Thanks.

Cause: The issue occurs due to configuration factors with the outlook.

The configuration is not properly set with regards to the incoming server for the mail is send. However in this case the outlook ISP authentication becomes essential before the mail is send by SMTP.

Resolution:

Repair your outlook email account or enable the following option – Log on to incoming server before sending mail.

The steps to resolve the same depends on the outlook version that you are currently using.

For Outlook 2010, you can download and run the Microsoft fix available for the same.

The Microsoft article kb 287532 gives you the prepared fix that you can download and run it on your system.

Hello Mitzi,

That is an error that is occurring most likely because of the settings that you have setup especially on the POP3 and the SMTP server. Note that a mistake in those settings will hinder the messages from being send and received and therefore you will need to recheck and ensure that you have configured them correctly.

  • Check if you might have used commas instead of full stops in the addresses. For instance, you might have used something like pop3,gmail,com instead of pop3.gmail.com.
  • Also just check that you have not misspelled the addresses, and the email addresses that you have provided must be working correctly.

Hope this helps.

Regards,

Carl
