I cannot run any .bat file. It shows- Bat file contain only Pause statement and it should return usual black window, and it also says "Press any key to continue…"

And after that when i press any key, nothing really happen.

When I try Start > Run > cmd.exe, a blank wind show up. But no prompt line.

If I try Start > Run > cmd.exe? It shows up normal help options, and after those black windows disappears.

After that, when I try to copy cmd.exe from my server to another windows 2003 server it shows the same problem.

Anybody can help me with this?

It looks like a clear case of corrupted windows.

There might be some viruses that must have corrupted files like cmd and bat.

  1. Download and install any good antivirus with the latest version. You can try the ESET NOD32.
  2. Install Ccleaner and run the cleaner.
  3. If none of them worked then it is time to re install the windows.
  4. Install all the latest updates from the Microsoft website for your windows.
  5. Try installing the cmd tool again.
  6. Have your pc scanned online from the following link. It will scan for any possible threats or Spyware present in your computer. Remove all of them that comes in the search results.
  7. Malwarebytes Anti-Malware PRO

Hi Silvalillian,

Very sad to say that Huge loads of Malwares and or Viruses are Playing with your system. You must be very careful while using External devices to install Software's and other stuffs and also while using Network.

Its really horrible and tough to fight with viruses and only a PC expert geek could do remove SOME of the common viruses.

Better install a GOOD Antivirus and or Internet security.

I personally Recommends Kaspersky Internet Security 2012. It works great. It catches almost all the viruses and also very smooth to operate. What problem kaspersky has till its 2011 versions was slow updates. Now they have solved the problem.

Go try download the trial version and try it for 30 days and if and only if you liked then buy the license for 1 year.

Good luck.

Michelle Bang, thanks for the step by step guide.

I downloaded Eset Nod32 and Cclener from the net and installed it. I successfully installed it and everything is alright. I can run the bat file and cmd.exe.

Thanks
