Problem regarding the start up of my laptop

Hi experts,

I have been facing problem regarding the start up of my laptop. The current configuration of my laptop is Mint 13 x64bit. Few days ago, while starting up, I found that it took about 20 seconds than the normal start up. Nowadays, it adopts the same delay start up with some awful error message like “buffer I/O error on device…”, “logical block 0..” and so on.

Have you any idea regarding this issue? Is it a serious issue?

Please help me.

Hi,

Based on the symptoms you just described, it seems that the reason why you are getting this message on Ubuntu is because of a loose cable. Try to check the cables if they are plugged in properly. If they are then it could be that there are corrupted sectors or possibly a failing HD. You may want to start creating backups of all your files before things get worst.
