Watching DVD movies is my hobby and I love to play it on my computer which has a wider screen compared to my laptop. I’ve been doing this as a past time when I don’t have anything to do every summer.
Well, when I checked it today the DVD drive won’t open. I tried to push the button several times so that it will open and I even waited for several minutes for it to rest then try to open it again. Still the same thing happened. The DVD drive won’t open and eject. Can anyone help me on this problem?
Problem regarding DVD Drive Malfunctioning
If you added anymore hardware in your PC, then it might be a problem. The DVD ROM is not getting enough power on the power supply unit, that's why its on but not functioning well.
If this is the case, replace you power supply with a much more capacity, about 100 watts more or simply remove the added hardware to test it out first and see if it works.
If it still doesn't work, try changing the IDE or Sata cable (which ever is the one available for you DVD ROM) and check if it works. Hope this solves your problem.

Your problem is very common, I faced it myself. This happens for three reasons.
1. Your DVD got stuck in your drive. This happens rarely. If it’s the problem, then open up the cover of your drive and remove the DVD manually.
2. It’s because of your power supply, it can’t supply the power needed by the device to run properly. In this case you have to replace your power supply.
3.It can also happen because of your DVD ROMs opening mechanism, if you are using the device for a long time, then the rubber that attaches the opening mechanism to the motor that makes it work, may be got loosen. If this is the problem then it’s time to visit a technician who can change it for you.

Hi,
It's possible that the eject button may have become faulty, try ejecting your optical drive by going to My Computer (or Computer for Windows Vista and Windows 7) then look for your optical drive in the list and right click on it then choose Eject.
If that doesn't work, it's likely that the belt that drives the optical drive to open and close has snapped or has been cut (most likely because of age). If this is the case you can have it checked and repaired or you might as well just purchase a new optical drive.
