Did you install your HTC phone driver on your PC? You need that installed because without it, your phone and PC will not be able to communicate properly with each other. Follow the steps below if you do not have the HTC phone driver.

1. Download the latest android SDK (Google android SDK download)

2. Extract Android SDK .Zip file to C:AndroidSDK (this should name the new folder created AndroidSDK in the C directory.

3. On your phone, go to Settings> Applications> Development. Make sure USB Debugging is on.

4. Plug your phone into your computer via USB cable (it needs to be on). It should say installing drivers if you are using Windows.

Wait for the device to be installed. Do not remove or turn it off while it is still installing. When it prompts that your new hardware is installed, you can now use active sync.
