I am using a open source messaging software called Pidgin in windows XP. There is no problem with Gmail, Facebook, yahoo, msn etc. The only problem is with Skype. I installed a plug-in for Skype to make it work with pidgin. But when I going to add my Skype account in configuration dialog box, I cant see any option for adding it, though official sites says it supports Skype through plugins. What I am doing wrong?

I have two solutions for you:

1 - try to download the Plugin from here

2 - To install, run skype4pidgin-installer.exe or copy libskype.dll to the plugins directory, normally C:\Program Files\Pidgin\plugin

Download the file from here

Hello Sumaia Tasnim,

It is strange to know that unfortunately, out of all the IM networks that Pidgin supports, the one that is not supported by it by default is Skype. But luckily there are plugins that can do the required job. Since you have installed the plugin in Pidgin, all that you have to do is to run Skype first then start it using the plugin in Pidgin. Hopefully it will help you. There are some drawbacks of using it in Pidgin like;

·         No phone calls supported in plugin.

·         For instance, you must also have official Skype program running.

·         The plug-in imports each and everything from the Skype.
