Problem Installing SP3 on Windows XP

I would like to ask for assistance on how to load the SP3 on my computer.  It is a 7-year old Compaq Presario SR1000 sr1420AN running on Windows XP. I have tried installing the SP3 several times but it always fails.  The file has become corrupted and I might be forced to go back to restore point.  Any ideas?

Well, if you have tried several times already and the service pack 3 failed to install successfully in all those instances, then the problem may be occurring because of the following reasons:

  • The service pack 3 that you are trying to install is corrupt and therefore cannot be able to be installed. You will need to go online and search for another good version and use it for installation, or you can also purchase it.
  • The service pack 3 may not be supported by the windows XP that you have, maybe it can work with other service packs but not service pack 3 and therefore you will need to figure out the right service pack to use.
