Problem with HP Officejet Pro

I am running an Officejet Pro A909g. I get the problem in the scanning software.

I am using two personal desktop. One is running 64 bit Vista with another is running 64 bit Windows 7 Enterprise.  The Officejet is linked via network to these.

The Officejet prints as well as scans are very well in the Vista machine.

But when I upgraded my laptop to Windows 7, then I have had a problem in scanning.

The scanners works very well after uninstall with re-install the HP software.

But after a few times, I got the following errors. Please help me to solve it.

Thanks.

HP Officejet Pro 8500 A909g Series

Error!

A required software component was not found or was improperly installed. Reinstall the HP Photosmart software that
came with the device, and try scanning again.

                                      OK

This issue happens whether the Officejet is linked to the Windows 7 laptop by using the network or by using the USB cable.

At first I was feeling that the Trend Micro OfficeScan 10.5.1997 (corporate anti-virus software) might be an element of the trouble.

So I switched from with the network link to the Officejet to a straight USB connection.

Hello Halin,

It seems like you are missing prerequisite software on your computer that is needed for the application to work. You will therefore need to do the following to fix that problem:

  • You will have to get the CD that came with the Scanner, and then install the HP Photosmart software that is required for the scanner to work.
  • But before the installation you will need to get rid of photosmart applications that are currently on your computer by going to the control panel and then removing them.

After you have done that, the problem with the HP Officejet Pro should disappear.

Regards,

Carl
