Problem with blackberry phone after update

I just did an update to my blackberry Q10 phone and amazingly, I have lost all my contacts. I understand that with an update, information such as contacts is not supposed to get lost. What is even worse, I cannot save new numbers and my phone does not store records of any calls. Please help

Once you have completed updating your phone, it erases all your previous data and the phone becomes as good as new wit no data saved. However, contacts are usually synchronized with your Gmail account. After you restore your Gmail account, all your contacts will be back. About not storing any call logs, you might need to security wipe your phone. Next time before installing an update, first back up your data.
