Hi, I am having some trouble with my Logitech STX webcam that shows a strange error message when engaging with some video effects. When I am trying to apply any video effect an “error code 0x80040606” pops up. I tried some solutions online but still no success. I want to know from any of you about how to fix this? Thanks.

Hello there, Logitech webcam is reported by many other users to have issues with some of the Operating Systems of Microsoft Windows. Try installing some other video effects software to help you carry on your work. Or In order to use the webcam correctly through an alternate method, disable the UAC by going to the RUN window and enter “msconfig”, then go to the Tools menu and then disable UAC, select Launch then Apply and OK. Then close it and reboot the computer. After restarting, you should be able to work with your webcam. If this method works, then the webcam program has some fault as an app is not expected to interfere or be troubled by any process of the OS of a computer system; you should inform about this matter to the Logitech customer support.

You may also try disconnecting the cam from the USB and reinstall the program. When the program will ask you to connect the device, do it. Then in order to check if it is functioning well with your messaging app – go to your social messaging application such as Skype, Yahoo or Windows Live Messenger and go to their webcam settings and check if you can see your webcam showing the video of your room, if it does, then your webcam has installed correctly and is working well. Hope your problem gets fixed soon. Best of Luck!
