Problem accessing files on the intranet

I have some files on the intranet.

On trying to access these files, I get the error message: “Internet Explorer has encountered a problem and needs to close.

We are sorry for the inconvenience. For more info on this error, click here.”

Why does this error occur?

What do I need to configure to be able to access the intranet?

Can you please help me with this?

The following are the two methods that will help you resolve that problem:

First, You will need to try and remove Smart Tags Support for Internet Explorer as follows:

  1. You will have to close all open Internet Explorer windows.
  2. And then go to the Control Panel, and then start the Add or Remove Programs tool.
  3. You will need to click Smart tags support for Microsoft Internet Explorer, and thereafter you will click Change/Remove

Secondly, you will need to try and disable Smart Tags in Internet Explorer as follows:

  1. First, you will start Internet Explorer.
  2. And then go to the Tools menu and click Internet Options.
  3. Locate the Advanced tab and  from there click to clear the Enable smart tags check box.
  4. And then click OK, and then restart Internet Explorer.
