Printer Ports and Programmers help

Hi,

I have an EMP-20 programmer.

I was going to upgrade my computer and had a question.

Currently my programmer plugs into the printer port of my computer.

The computer I am wanting to work off of does not have this port.

If I buy an adapter like this

Will that work? Will I need to possibly re-assign my port or something in the programmer's menu?

Let me know what you think.

Thanks!

Dear Alendonald,

As you are using EMP-20 Programmer, Which works with a large number of devices from a large group of manufacturers. But there is a down side of these programmers is that they can connect a computer through a parallel port. Secondly the software of these devices is in DOS only.

The solution of your question lies in getting a Desktop/Laptop with parallel port.

Use of Linux system is more appropriate approach than Windows (Windows 98 is also helpful). Also use DOSEMU program for hardware access to parallel ports on the host computer.

The adapter you are asking about is for printers only & will not provide a parallel port.

There are some USB to port adapters are also available which you can use after up gradation of your system.
