Hi experts,

A Print Detective 1.1 software error keeps popping up. It says "Failed to get print driver information."

I don't understand what it says, and I don't know how to fix this problem. Can you elaborate what it means and how to fixit?

Any answer is highly appreciated.

Thanks!

Error:

Failed to get print driver information from: 306
The spooler RPC subsystem returned error.

If the remote machine is Windows Server 2003, please ensure that its print spooler is configured to accept client connections.

There is a policy that can be configured to enable this. You can use the Group Policy Object Editor (Gpedit.msc), and the corresponding policy is located in "Administrative TemplatesPrinters"

Otherwise,check RPC.

Hi,

PrintDetective 1.1 is an enhanced error dialog when the error code 2 comes across, to help give user a more explanatory meaning of the error code.

If user is running Print Detective to itemize a remote machine's printer driver information, and receive an RPC related error message – then check if the remote machine is Windows Server 2003 or newer.

If so, then check if the remote print spooler is configured to accept client connections. If it is not, this could be the reason – and enabling the Allow Print Spooler to accept client connections policy might fix it.

Or else, the corresponding Print Detective error message should give other information into the error. This definitely does not mean that the policy described above should repair any RPC related error that might pop up. In testing it has solved most problems, but other RPC related problems can surely occur which might lead to an entirely different resolution for example an unresponsive RPC service.
