Tips on making effective and impressive presentation

In my way , I personally consider "planning",  the most important part to make an impressive presentation. So at first I plan the way, you want to progress. It will help you in deciding the contents. After you made up your plan, you should follow the steps to make the plan come true:

1. Determine the goal of the presentation.
2. Determining the audience.
3. Gathering information
4. Make the slide's sketch in paper
5. Ordering slides
6. Finally add them together to make the presentation live.

That was a great response. But since I have my plan in my head, will you please explain to me, what I should keep in mind following the step by step procedure.

Well, I'll do it step by step, so that you can easily catch up with the steps and do your homework as well.

• Determine the Goal Is it a business presentation ? Is the presentation about a product ? Is it a new idea being introduced?
• Audience Your staff /prospective client /small children/a convention for people in the same line of work (for example; a group of engineers/finance officers)
• Gathering Information Focus on the main point only. May be 2 or 3 points. Learn everything about the topic, so that you feel confident.
• Slide sketching Try to keep only one main idea/point in a single slide; not having more than one topic in one slide is a good practice.
• Ordering slides Order of slides is important as the last slide may be an introduction to  the next slide's idea.
• Make it alive Do some coloring so that it looks better. But don’t use too glossy colors , it will look a bit odd.

I can already feel that my presentation is going to be the best one, amongst others.

Anything else I should know about presentation stuff ?

And yes,  which software should I use to make presentation? Will MS PowerPoint do?

Here are some tips that you may find useful:

1. Avoid fancy fonts. Use one that is simple and easy to read (e.g. Arial).
2. Don't use capital letters in the middle of slide. It's too loud.
3. Limit punctuation.
4. Limit the number of slides.
5. Use photos, graphs.
