I have a Dell PowerEdge Server Model  R710 that started off with an iDRAC communications issue. We have iDRAC software enterprise version. I restarted the server and it said it could not communicate. I removed and reseated the module, it began working. But after a while yields the same issue. Please help me resolve this if you have encountered similar issue.

Hello,

There are various reason and remedies for this failure are listed below;

  • Failure of embedded iDRAC module. Replacing motherboard can be help full. If not, try to clear NVRam as well. This will give you your access back. Then run Lifecycle Controller repair package,via remote method with the help of iDRAC web interface.
  • Try updating iDRAC Firmware version to 1.54 A00.(hard drive version will work best)
  •  Check for the BIOS power recovery policy should be kept off. Perform Power Cycles few times.
  • Check Front panel LCD(if any) for conformation of receiving IP for iDRAC .
  • Try updating BIOS, DRAC FW and  NIC. Or platform, using USC.

Hope these solutions will facilitate you well.
