Hi IT Experts,

Is it possible to send video files? Either through email or online, that would not cost any amount? I have here a video file that I would love to send to my friend, the file size is 699 MB.

Hi,

You can send video from email by uploading files to the host of your email. Just like yahoo mail, they will accept any file format including Video File, 699MB still supported by yahoo. Some email host are not accepting a file greater than 500MB they are strict on uploading a huge file like this. If you want they will just download the file i suggest "Mediafire" this site can accepts upload files whatever the extensions and anybody can download or privately download if you want security you can put a password on it before download. If you planned to upload on youtube it will work because it only accepts limited space unlike Mediafire which is design for this.

Thanks,

The best way of sending your video of large size through email can be done by compressing the size of the video.

Compressing videos with Virtual Dub:

The Virtual Dub makes use of codes that compress and decompress audio/video files so that they don’t take up too much space.

We can use XviD codec to compress the video file.

Step 1: Start VirtualDub and load the video file you want to compress. Click on file and select open video file.

Step 2: The video opens in the timeline of VirtualDub and the timeline shows you the input and output videos.

Step 3: On the toolbar click on video and select compression.

Step 4: In the select video compression box choose the XviD MPEG -4 codec and click on configure button.

Step 5: In the XviD configuration window under the main settings you can choose to keep the “profile@ level”settings to the default “ unrestricted” or “drill down to advanced simple@L5”.

Step 6: Select the encoding type as “single pass”.

Step 7: Select “Target bit rate(kbps)” as 300-350 which is OK for web video (To compress the video).

Step 8: Click on OK and click on file on the toolbar and select save as AVI and save the compressed file to a location.
